Phoenix Hayes is a writer, speaker, and ministry leader who helps Christians think clearly, speak truthfully, and stay grounded in reality when culture seems determined to make that unnecessarily difficult. Her work explores truth, theology, worldview, politics, and culture, equipping believers to know not only what they believe, but why it’s true and why it matters.
Known for tackling difficult and controversial topics with clarity, humor, and careful reasoning, Phoenix prefers principled disagreement to outrage and theatrics. She believes challenging ideas is not the same as attacking people, and treating beliefs as untouchable is rarely the loving option.
At the heart of her work is the conviction that Christianity offers the most coherent and hopeful account of reality, grounds morality, and gives us a foundation for human dignity and rights. Truth is not fragile. Hard questions are not dangerous. And Christian conviction was never meant to live quietly in a cupboard marked “private.”
Phoenix’s work is grounded in both formal theological training and years spent testing those ideas in the considerably messier laboratory of real life. She holds a Master’s degree in Christian Apologetics and Theology from Southern Evangelical Seminary and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry, because she has an inexplicable fondness for footnotes and deadlines.
Her writing has appeared in The Daily Wire, CrossExamined.org, The Christian Apologetics Journal, and Decision Magazine, tackling questions where faith, culture, and public life collide. Phoenix also speaks at churches and conferences, helping Christians think clearly, ask better questions, and speak truth with confidence, grace, and the occasional well-placed sarcastic observation.
Her first book, The War on Reality, co-authored with Dr. Frank Turek, was released in 2026 and became a New York Times, Publishers Weekly, and Amazon bestseller.
Originally from New Zealand, Phoenix is still a true-blue Kiwi at heart, although America has successfully converted her to free refills and an unreasonable enthusiasm for constitutional rights. Growing up in a deeply secular, left-leaning culture taught her early that ideas have a habit of growing legs, entering politics, and rearranging society. That experience gave her a lasting interest in the ideas beneath our politics and culture, and what happens when nobody bothers to examine them.
After earning a degree in Film and Television in New Zealand, Phoenix married her American husband and began the very impractical adventure of building a life across two countries and one very large ocean. Many years of marriage, four children, and several pugs later, life has included international moves, raising children with special needs, and building a family an ocean away from the one she grew up with.
Now based in North Carolina, Phoenix has a deep appreciation for America, not because she thinks it’s perfect, but because she believes its founding principles are historically remarkable, increasingly rare, and worth preserving.
